Robinhood and Ripple announced a partnership to bring RLUSD to the Robinhood app by year-end and use the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement.

Key points

  • Ripple and Robinhood announced a partnership on Oct. 27, 2026
  • RLUSD is expected in the Robinhood app later this year
  • Robinhood will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement
  • Ripple cites 28.6 million Robinhood funded customers and RLUSD above $2.4 billion

Robinhood and Ripple announced a strategic partnership on Oct. 27 that brings Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin to the Robinhood app later this year and sets up institutional settlement on the XRP Ledger, according to Ripple’s announcement. Ripple said RLUSD’s market capitalization now exceeds $2.4 billion.

The deal was also covered by CryptoSlate, whose headline framed it as a link to roughly 29 million app users. Ripple’s release cites a narrower figure: 28.6 million funded customers globally, based on Robinhood’s August 2026 operating data.

What the agreement covers for RLUSD and settlement

Ripple said RLUSD will be a key stablecoin across Robinhood’s digital asset ecosystem, serving retail and institutional users. The token is already live on Robinhood Chain and on Bitstamp by Robinhood, the company’s institutional digital asset arm. Access inside the Robinhood app is described as expected later this year, with no specific date given.

On the institutional side, Robinhood will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for settlement, extending its use across Bitstamp’s institutional business. CryptoSlate noted that no start date or settlement volume has been announced, and that the announcement does not say which countries or states will be eligible for app access.

RLUSD launched in December 2024. Bitstamp listed it in January 2025, according to Bitstamp’s listing post, as a stablecoin supported on Ethereum and the XRP Ledger.

Treasury and prime brokerage components

The partnership goes beyond the stablecoin. Robinhood will integrate Ripple Treasury to automate parts of its global treasury operations, including cash and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, payments, risk management and intercompany netting, Ripple said.

Ripple Prime already has a relationship with Robinhood covering financing, liquidity and market access. It provides Bitstamp with lending and margin financing across roughly 20 digital assets, and gives Ripple Prime clients access to spot trading on Bitstamp. Ripple said Prime will support perpetual futures trading on Bitstamp later this year.

Executives’ comments and what to watch

Monica Long, Ripple’s president, said the partnership’s appeal lies in “the breadth of what we’re building together.” Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager of Robinhood Crypto and International, said: “Utility is what moves stablecoins forward.”

Ripple put total stablecoin supply at more than $300 billion, which places RLUSD as a small share of the overall market. Open questions include when the in-app rollout begins, which users will have access, and how much settlement volume will move over the XRP Ledger. Neither company has published those details.
