A proposal to burn a growing share of staking rewards has been withdrawn from the Hegota hard fork after heavy pushback from core contributors and the staking industry.

The burn share would have reached 100% at about 60.25 million staked ETH, roughly half of supply.

At current staking levels it could have cut annual consensus yield from 2.6% to 1.2%.

The authors now plan a separate process aiming for formal proposal status at EthCC in April 2027.
